I have decided to join NaBloPoMo once again. This blog-prompting site offers monthly themes and prompts for bloggers to use as fodder for their blog if they so wish.
The monthly theme is ‘FRESH’ and for April 1, 2013 NaBloPoMo has presented the following question:
Which environmental cause is closest to your heart and why?
I was puzzled that I could not immediately and easly answer that question. I usually think of myself as environmentally aware as well as striving to first, do no harm. But what environmental cause, if any, equates to that personal philosophy? And exactly how does my philosophy impact my patch of garden earth known here as my Work In Progress Garden? I have decided to have a FRESH look at my environmental philosophy.
Several subjects and issues came to mind:
Garden chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides and their responsible usage.
How to reduce, reuse, and recycle in the garden.
Is there a home gardening glut that is/could be harmful?
How does gardening have a negative impact?
How does gardening have a positive impact?
Consider honey bees and colony collapse.
Integrate Pest Management aka IPM.
So thanks to NaBloPoMo for the prompt that will have me rethinking environmentalism in the Work In Progress Garden. As I go through the spring garden chores I will keep this subject in the back of my mind and revisit it in future posts.
